Passengers aged 16 and over are considered adults.

Adult passengers pay the regular rate. If you are not eligible for a discounted fare, you must pay the adult ticket price.

Passengers aged 4–15 are considered children.

Children get a discount of approx. 50 % compared to adult single tickets and season tickets. Children under 4 travel for free. 

On longer boat journeys, there is a price cap on single tickets for children travelling with an adult. The maximum price per child is specified in the price table and applies to up to four children per adult. 

Children under 12 may not travel by boat alone, and must be accompanied by a person over the age of 16.

TICKET INSPECTION
You need a valid ticket to travel on public transport. All passengers travelling on a discounted ticket must be able to present to ticket inspectors documentation of their eligibility for the discount. If there is any doubt about the passenger’s age, ticket inspectors may demand that the passenger present valid identification.

ABOUT THE SENIOR AND CONCESSIONARY DISCOUNT
On boats in Hordaland, eligible passengers get approx. 50 percent off compared to adult single tickets and season tickets.

Concessionary rates are offered to

  • persons over 67 years of age
  • persons with a concessionary card from NAV. This applies to persons who receive a disability pension pursuant to the Norwegian National Insurance Act with a disability rate of 50 per cent or more, persons receiving equivalent disability benefits from another EEA country and refugees with disabilities who receive supplementary benefits.
  • persons with blindness or deafblindness with additional identification cards
  • spouse or partner (registered in accordance with the Norwegian Marriage Act) who travels accompanied by a person with a senior’s discount / concessionary discount ticket.

TICKET INSPECTION
All passengers travelling on a discounted ticket must be able to present valid documentation of their eligibility for the discount.

If you are over 67 years of age, a photo ID showing your age will be considered valid proof that you are entitled to a discount.

If you are under 67 years of age, the following applies when you are travelling with a concessionary discount ticket:

  • Persons who receive a disability pension pursuant to the Norwegian National Insurance Act with a disability rate of 50 per cent or more, and persons with equivalent disability benefits from another EEA country, must present a blue concessionary discount card from NAV and photo ID.
  • Refugees with disabilities who receive supplementary benefits must present a blue concessionary discount card from NAV and photo ID.
  • Persons with blindness who do not receive a disability pension must present an additional identification card from the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted in addition to photo ID.
  • Persons with deafblindess who have a right to free travel for one companion must present an additional identification card (green concessionary discount card) issued by the Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Deafblindness in addition to photo ID.

NAV issues concessionary discount cards to persons who are entitled to it. Persons with deafblindness and persons with blindness receive additional identification cards from the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted and the Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Deafblindness.

From the age of 16 up to and including 20 years, we recommend the 30-day youth ticket.

The youth ticket allows you to travel as much as you like by bus, Bergen Light Rail, train and on several boat and ferry services for 30 days in the whole of Vestland County.

ABOUT THE STUDENT DISCOUNT
Students get a 40 percent discount on single fare tickets and 7-, 30- and 180-day season tickets on boats in Hordaland.

ABOUT THE MILITARY DISCOUNT
Military discounts are available to conscripted personnel.

Eligible passengers get approx. 50 percent off compared to adult single tickets for boats in Hordaland. Military travellers get no discount on season tickets.

On longer boat journeys, there is a price cap on single tickets for children (aged 4–15) travelling with an adult.

The maximum price per child is specified in the price table and applies to up to four children per adult.

If ten or more people travel together by boat, they are eligible for a discount of 25 % compared to the ordinary adult ticket price. Children and passengers with a senior or concessionary discount do not get a special discount, but count toward the number of passengers. Children under age 4 travel for free and are not included as passengers in the group. 

You may bring your bicycle/scooter/self-balancing vehicle for free on all Skyss boats, provided there is enough space.

All dogs travel for free on Skyss buses and boats in Hordaland, as well as on the Bergen Light Rail.

The animal may be brought on board provided there is enough space and the animal does not disturb the other passengers. Animals must be secured on a lead or in a cage for the duration of the journey, and the animal must not block free passage. If the animal is aggressive or otherwise disturbs other passengers, the animal may be asked to get off en route.

If you are travelling with your dog and plan to transfer to a train or express bus, please be aware that they may have different rules.

Bus, light rail and boat:
A person travelling as a companion to a disabled person with a companion certificate, travel for free with Skyss. The companion does not need a ticket.

Ticket inspection: 
All passengers travelling on a discounted ticket must be able to present to ticket inspectors documentation of their eligibility for the discount. Valid companion certificates are required for companions. This is a certificate issued to the person with the disability.

Train:
Journeys with Skyss tickets on trains in zone A (between Bergen and Trengereid) are subject to the same conditions as journeys by bus, light rail or boat.
