When travelling on Skyss buses, the light rail, and boat routes with zone-based fares, you are eligible for a military discount on all tickets. 

Discount rates: 

  • 50 per cent discount on single tickets for all zones. 
  • 40 per cent discount on 24-hour tickets and period tickets for 7 or 30 days

A military single ticket for zone A can also be used for train journeys between Bergen and Arna/Trengereid (Vossebanen and Arnalokalen). 

The following boat routes have zone-based fares: Kleppestø–Strandkaiterminalen, Knarvik–Frekhaug–Strandkaiterminalen, and boat routes in the Florabassenget area.

Who can purchase a military ticket?

Under these regulations, military personnel serving in the armed forces means: 

  • conscripts in initial military service 
  • travel to initial military service and return travel on discharge from initial military service 
  • travel to and from military screening 
  • military apprentices in their first and second year of training 
  • travel to and from new enrolment in the Home Guard, or travel to and from refresher training 
  • students at the Norwegian Defence University College 

Ticket inspection 

All passengers travelling with discounted tickets must present valid proof of eligibility upon request during ticket inspection. 

A summons letter (valid only for travel to initial military service and to new enrolment and refresher training in the Home Guard), a student ID card for the Military Academy, or the Norwegian Armed Forces’ blue identity card are the only valid proof of entitlement to the discount.
