ADULT
On Skyss buses, the Bergen Light Rail and some boat connections a person is considered an adult when they have turned 18 years old. 

Adults pay ordinary price. If you are not considered to be eligible to a discount, you must pay adult price.

FAMILY DISCOUNT: 
With a family discount, adult passengers may bring up to four children aged 6-17 for free. The discount applies every day, all year round.

TICKET INSPECTION:
You need a valid ticket to travel on public transport. All passengers travelling on a discounted ticket must be able to present to ticket inspectors documentation of their eligibility for the discount.

CHILD
On Skyss buses, the Bergen Light Rail and the some boat connections, a person is considered a child when they are over 6 and under 18 years old. Children receive minimum 50 percent discount on ordinary adult prices for single tickets and season tickets. Children under the age of six travel free of charge.

With a family discount, adult passengers may bring up to four children aged 6–17 for free. The discount applies every day, all year round.

TICKET INSPECTION:
You need a valid ticket to travel on public transport. All passengers travelling on a discounted ticket must be able to present to ticket inspectors documentation of their eligibility for the discount. If there is any doubt about the passenger’s age, ticket inspectors may demand that the passenger present valid identification.

ABOUT THE SENIOR AND CONCESSIONARY DISCOUNT
Eligible passengers get approx. 50 percent off compared to adult single tickets, 24-hour tickets and season tickets for Skyss buses, Bergen light rail and some boat connections. 

Senior’s discount / concessionary discounts apply to

• persons over 67 years of age.
• persons with a concessionary card from NAV. This applies to persons who receive a disability pension pursuant to the Norwegian National Insurance Act with a disability rate of 50 per cent or more, persons receiving equivalent disability benefits from another EEA country and refugees with disabilities who receive supplementary benefits.
• persons with blindness or persons with deafblindness with additional identification cards (see detailed information here (link to information page).
• spouse or partner (registered pursuant to the Norwegian Marriage Act) accompanying a person with a senior’s discount / concessionary discount ticket.

Military discounts are available to conscripted personnel (initial service).

Eligible passengers get approx. 50 percent off compared to adult single tickets for Skyss buses, light rail and some boat connections. Military travellers get no discount on season tickets.

FAMILY DISCOUNT
With a family discount, adult passengers may bring up to four children aged 6–17 for free. The discount applies every day, all year round.

TICKET INSPECTION
All passengers travelling on a discounted ticket must be able to present valid documentation of their eligibility for the discount. Information on valid proof for passengers eligible to military discount is found here.

If you're over 18, the family discount lets you bring up to four children for free. The discount is valid every day throughout the year.

Please remember:

• You must be over 18 years old and have a valid adult, senior, student, or military ticket.
• The children must be between 6 and 18 years old.
• Children under 6 years old travel for free.

The family discount applies to Skyss buses, the light rail, and select boat routes. Please note that the discount is not valid on the airport buses in Førde and Sogndal.

Family discount on trains
The discount is valid on trains between Bergen-Arna-Trengereid if you have a single ticket or a 24-hour ticket for zone A. It also applies to trains between Bergen and Voss if you have a period pass (7, 30, or 180 days) for zones A, E, and F.

When you buy tickets for ten or more people at once, you receive a 17 percent discount on adult tickets to Skyss buses, the light rail, and some boat routes.

In the Skyss ticket app and webshop, the group discount is automatically calculated when you purchase the tickets.

If you have a travel discount and buy ten or more adult tickets using the Skyss Ticket app, you will always receive the best discount available.

Remember that:

• Group discount only applies on individual adult tickets. It cannot be combined with other discounts, except for travel discounts.
• If the group includes passengers with tickets for children, student, senior, or military, they will be included in the count. They are not eligible for a group discount in addition to any other discounts, such as student discounts.
• Children under 6 years old travel for free.

You don't need to pay a cash supplement in zone A if you buy a group ticket with cash on board.

Groups of 15 persons or more travelling together must notify the operator before their journey starts.

Please note that the group discount is not valid on the airport buses in Førde and Sogndal.

On buses and the Bergen Light Rail:
On buses and the light rail bicycles/e-bikes and large scooters/e-scooters require a children’s ticket. You may only bring your bike on buses that have the space to accommodate it, and then only when there is enough space and the driver deems it safe.

If you have a collapsed bike/scooter you may bring it on board as hand-luggage at no additional charge. Bikes that can be disassembled or folded may be brought along in luggage holds on buses. 

Boats - Askøybåten, Nordhordlandsbåten, Florabassenget and Kaupanger Kai-Frønningen:
Bicycles/e-bikes and scooters/e-scooters can be brought free of charge as long as there is space.

The animal may be brought on board provided there is enough space and the animal does not disturb the other passengers. Animals must be secured on a lead or in a cage for the duration of the journey, and the animal must not block free passage. If the animal is aggressive or otherwise disturbs other passengers, the animal may be asked to get off en route.

Dogs/animals travel free on:

• Skyss buses in Vestland
• Bergen Light Rail
• All boat connections in Hordaland
• Boat connections in Florabassenget and boat route Kaupanger kai-Frønningen

On other boats in Sogn og Fjordane, dogs may be brought on board at child rate.

If you are travelling with your dog and plan to transfer to a train or express bus, please be aware that they may have different rules.

Bus, light rail and boat:
A person travelling as a companion to a disabled person with a companion certificate, travel for free with Skyss. The companion does not need a ticket.

Train:
Journeys with Skyss tickets on trains in zone A (between Bergen and Trengereid) are subject to the same conditions as journeys by bus, light rail or boat.

Journeys by train outside zone A are subject to different rules. See vy.no for more information.

TICKET INSPECTION
All passengers travelling on a discounted ticket must be able to present to ticket inspectors documentation of their eligibility for the discount. Valid companion certificates are required for companions. This is a certificate issued to the person with the disability.
