On the bus, the Bergen Light Rail and the boat to Askøy, a person is considered a child when they are over 6 and under 18 years old. Children receive minimum 50 % discount on ordinary adult prices for single tickets and season tickets. Children under the age of six travel free of charge.

Family discount: Up to four children travel free of charge together with an adult on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The adult can have season ticket or singel ticket.

On the bus, the Bergen Light Rail and the boat to Askøy, people over the age of 67 and people with disabilities are considered a senior/concession holder. Seniors and people entitled to a concession get a 50 % discount on the ordinary adult price for single tickets and season tickets. 

Ticket inspections 
If you are a senior/concession holder over the age of 67, proof of identity applies as valid documentation. Spouses/partners get a concession on single tickets. Persons who are under the age of 67 but who receive a disability pension must also present documentation from the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Service (NAV) office. Blind people must present documentation from the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, and people who are deaf-blind must present separate documentation. All deaf-blind people may be accompanied by a companion/escort free of charge.

From the age of 16 up to and including 20 years, we recommend the 30-day youth ticket.

The youth ticket allows you to travel as much as you like by bus, Bergen Light Rail, train and on several boat and ferry services for 30 days in the whole of Vestland County, and on Kolumbus buses in some municipalities in Rogaland County.

On the bus, the Bergen Light Rail and the boat to Askøy, military personnel consist of people serving compulsory military or civilian national service. Military personnel are entitled to a 50% discount on the ordinary adult single ticket price, but the lowest possible price is the ordinary adult price for one zone. Otherwise, the ordinary adult price applies to people serving compulsory military or civilian national service.

Ticket inspections
Remember to carry valid proof of national service. If you are serving your compulsory military or civilian national service, the Ministry of Defence's ID card (FD-ID) is valid documentation. Your call-up papers serve as proof of identity on journeys in connection with call-ups.

On the bus and the Bergen Light Rail, the price for bicycles is the same as for children, but the maximum price is NOK 55 for single tickets.

You can bring bicycle for free at the boat to Askøy.

If you have a folding, properly packaged bicycle, you can take it with you as hand luggage at no extra cost.

Bicycles that can be dismantled or folded can be brought along in the luggage compartment of a bus. Other bicycles can only be brought along on buses that have designated areas for them, if there is room and if the driver deems it safe.

All dogs travel free of charge onthe bus, the Bergen Light Rail and the boat to Askøy.

On the bus, the Bergen Light Rail and the boat to Askøy, a group is considered to be ten or more persons travelling together. Groups get a 17 % discount on the ordinary adult price on single journeys. Children and seniors/concession holders do not get a special discount, but count towards the number of passengers in the group. Children under the age of six travel free of charge and are not included in the number of passengers. 

Please note: The supplement for paying in cash on board does not apply to group tickets bought on board. 

Groups of 15 persons or more must notify the operator before their journey starts (in norwegian).

A person accompanying a disabled person who can present a companion/escort card travels free of charge.

The companion/escort must present the companion/escort card to the driver when embarking or in the event of a ticket inspection. The companion/escort does not need a separate ticket.

Tickets for the Askøy boat service cost the same as tickets for buses/Bergen Light Rail in Zone A, and all payment methods are permitted.

Prices combined tickets, bus/boat:
With a 7, 30 and 180-day season ticket for bus/boat travel, you can travel as much as you like by bus /Bergen Light Rail and boat within the zones included in your season ticket. You can choose yourself whether you want to take a bus/Bergen Light Rail or boat on routes where this is possible. The ticket is available for adults, children, concessions and students.

From 1 August 2018, the number of zones in Hordaland will be reduced from 470 to 7.

Within each zone, there will be one price for the whole zone. An individual ticket will be valid for 90 minutes within one zone and for 30 minutes extra for each extra zone you pay for.

If you plan to cross a zone boundary, the ticket will cost more depending on how many boundaries you cross. The maximum price for an individual ticket is four zones, and three zones for a season ticket.

Main features of the zone system

Zone A: Zone Bergen includes the municipalities of Bergen, Askøy, Øygarden, Osterøy, Alver, Austrheim, Fedje and previous Os.

Zone B: The areas around the Bjørnefjord.

Zone C: Sunnhordland

Zone D: Odda, Eidfjord and Rosendal

Zone E: Voss, Granvin and Ulvik

Zone F: Samnanger, Kvam, Vaksdal and Modalen

Zone G: Masfjorden

Zone A includes the municipalities of Bergen, Askøy, Øygarden, Osterøy, Alver, Austrheim, Fedje and the area Os.

In Zone A, there will be an on board supplement when you buy a ticket on board with cash.

• The on board supplement is NOK 21 for adults and NOK 10 for children and seniors/concessions.

A supplement is not charged when topping up/using your Skyss Travelcard. 

If you buy a ticket in Zone A, you have to pay the on board supplement even if you plan to travel through several zones. If you buy a ticket outside Zone A, you do not have to pay an on board supplement, even if your journey ends inside Zone A.

The Askøy boat service is included in the new prices, but, as before, the Nordhordland boat service has separate prices.

The same rules apply within each zone, with the exception of the on board supplement in Zone A. 

You can travel as much as you like for 90 minutes within one zone. The ticket is valid as long as you board the last means of transport before the 90 minutes have expired. 

If you plan to cross a zone boundary, the ticket will cost more depending on how many boundaries you cross. The maximum price for an individual ticket is four zones, and three zones for a season ticket. 

For example, the price of an individual adult ticket will be NOK 21 more the first time you change zones, i.e. an increase from NOK 39 to NOK 60.

Some Skyss buses drive out of Hordaland. We have therefore established auxiliary zones outside Hordaland that have been assigned a letter and a number, e.g. C1 (Haugesund) and D1 (Ølen). With certain exceptions, the auxiliary zones have the same prices as the ordinary zones. If the journey is for two zones or shorter (travel within the auxiliary zone), the price is the same as for one journey over two zones (NOK 60 for a single adult ticket, NOK 30 for children/concessions for two zones, NOK 39 for adults and NOK 20 for children/concessions for one zone).

If the journey is for three zones or more, there is a fixed supplement in addition to the normal zone price. For example, a single adult ticket will cost NOK 245 and children/concession tickets will cost NOK 123 for the journey between Bergen and Vik i Sogn (four zones). The fixed price for individual tickets is NOK 100 for adults and NOK 50 for children/concessions.
