New ways to buy tickets!

Published: 1/18/2021 Changed: 1/18/2021

Skyss introduces a new webshop, and use of the Skyss Travelcard changes.

First of all, if you’re using our app, “Skyss Ticket”, these changes do not affect you. The app has not changed, and you can use the Skyss Ticket app for all modes of transport, just like before.

These are the main changes:

New ticket webshop, get started!

  • Buy single fare tickets and 24-hour tickets
  • Buy travel passes (7, 30, and 180 days) and youth tickets
  • Buy tickets for others (e.g. children or grandparents)
  • Pay using debit card or Vipps

The following can no longer be done on board:

  • You can no longer refill your Skyss Travelcard (Cash Travel balance)
  • You can no longer buy travel passes on board
  • If you are buying new tickets for your Skyss Travelcard, use the webshop

Background for new changes

Over the course of the last six months of last year, we got many new buses. Our old on-board ticket system has been replaced with new technology and more future-oriented systems.

All of our buses will get the new ticket systems installed over the course of 2021.

Almost 80 percent of our passengers already use the app “Skyss Ticket” to buy their tickets, which makes the boarding and unboarding process quicker and smoother.

As the process of replacing the equipment on board all of our buses will take some time, the old and new solution will have to coexist for some time. If you have a Skyss Travelcard and prefer this over the app, you have to buy your tickets and travel passes in the online shop from now on.  For a transitional period, it will still be possible to refill your Cash Travel balance at ticket machines when you travel with the Bergen Light Rail.
