What is Skyss?

Skyss is the public transport authority of Vestland county. We work to achieve the political objectives set for public transport and mobility services, as defined by Vestland County Council. Day to day, our work includes:

• planning and developing line networks and schedules
• awarding contracts for the operation of bus, express boat and ferry services through competitive tendering
• planning and coordination of school transport
• providing information about and marketing travel options and customer solutions
• providing customer service
• developing combined mobility services

Steering documents

Regional transportplan (RTP) for Vestland 2022-2033 («The Regional Transport Plan») was adopted by Vestland County Council in December 2021. The plan aims for Vestland to have an efficient, safe and future-oriented transport system that facilitates climate- and environment-friendly mobility and sustainable development.

Strategi for berekraftig mobilitet i Vestland 2022-2033 («Strategy for sustainable mobility») is part of RTP. The strategy seeks to support the overall goals for Vestland County Council and to ensure sustainable development for the region. It outlines how Skyss is to achieve the goal of developing a well-functioning and sustainable mobility system for citizens and for society. 

Governance

The highest executive body of Skyss is the Vestland County Council (vestlandfylke.no), which adopts overall strategies and budgets and also makes other policy decisions.
