Remember your ID!
If you have a personal travelcard, you must always have valid ID with you. If you have the right to discounts (student/senior citizen/conscript etc.), you must be able to display relevant documentation (additional ID) when purchasing or renewing travel products and during ticket inspections in order to gain the right to discount. You are responsible for making sure you have a valid ticket/travel product or for buying a ticket when you board.
Valid additional ID
- For students/apprentices
Valid additional ID for students can be receipts for semester fees paid (semester card/yearly card/student certificate with disc). Students at educational institutes abroad must present their international student card (ISIC card).
Valid additional ID for apprentices and apprentice candidates is as follows: personal ID card from the company marked “Apprentice” or “Apprentice candidate”, copy of apprenticeship contract, confirmation from the company of apprenticeship/candidacy and period of apprenticeship contract, marked with name and date of birth.
- For senior citizens
Persons entitled to senior citizen tickets must present valid ID, also for spouse/partner. Persons who have not turned 67 but have disability pension shall also present documentation from the Social Security office. Blind persons must also present documentation from the Association for the Blind. Deaf-blind persons must present additional ID and may have an escort with them free of charge.
- For conscripts
Valid additional ID for conscripts and civil servicemen is the ID card issued by the Ministry of Defence (FD-ID). For draft journeys, the draft order can be used as ID.
Ticket inspections
During ticket inspections, a valid ticket/travel product on your travelcard, your ID and any additional ID must be presented. If you cannot present a valid ticket and ID (plus any additional ID), you will have to pay a fine of NOK 750. Attempts to forge tickets are a punishable offence and the fine is NOK 1,500. Any invalid tickets must be handed in.
The purpose of ticket inspections is to increase the number of passengers who pay for tickets, prevent incorrect ticket sales, provide guidance and contribute towards a safe and pleasant journey.
The additional fee is considered as a ticket and affords passengers the right to continue their journey and make use of connecting transport according to prevailing regulations.
